All About Paintballs

All About Paintballs

Paintballs are gelatin capsules filled with a water-soluble marking dye. The dye inside is non-toxic, meaning that if you swallow it, it will not hurt you. However, the taste is not very pleasant.

Paintballs are manufactured by many different companies. As with most things, paintballs can be either low quality, or high quality. Of course, paintballs also come in a variety of colors. Paintballs can also be bought in many different quantities, with just as many variations of prices.

Most paintball fields require you to purchase and use their paint. This is how they make their money. Therefore, in most cases, brand and quality of the paint will not be deciding factors.

The best way to determine which brand/quantity/quality of paintballs you should buy is to know how you will be using those paintballs. If you are using the paintballs for practice, you naturally will want to go with the cheapest paintballs. Quality will not matter much in this instance.

If you will be using the paintballs for rec-ball, again, quality is not quite as important, and you may want to go with the cheapest price. However, if you will be using the paintballs for tournament play, quality matters a great deal. You want paintballs that will not break easily inside your gun or in transit. At the same time, you do want paintballs that will break easily when they hit an opponent. Many tournaments will require you to use the paint that they are selling. Tournament grade balls tend to be resistant to wiping, meaning that the paint is harder to wipe off. This discourages cheating.

You must also purchase the right size paintballs for your gun. Paintballs sizes are measured in calibers. The most common caliber of the barrel on a paint gun is .68. However, it is important that you check the documentation that comes with your gun to make sure you know the correct caliber of your guns barrel, therefore enabling you to purchase the correct caliber paintballs.

Both paintballs and paint ball gun barrels range in sizes from .67 to .71 calibers. Just because your gun requires a .68 caliber paintball, does not necessarily mean that this is the best caliber for your gun. Paintballs are not perfectly round. You will need to experiment with different sizes, close to the caliber your gun calls for. It may be that a .67 caliber paintball works best in your gun, even if your barrel bore is .68. An easy test to see if a paintball will work in your gun is to put the ball in one end of the barrel. If it rolls out on its own, it is too small. It is a good fit if you can easily blow it out of the barrel. If you cannot easily blow it out, it is too big.

When choosing the color of your paintballs, it is necessary to consider the playing environment. If you are playing in the woods, bright colors may be preferred, as it is easier to see the paint. Some paintballs glow in the dark. If you are playing at night, this may be what you want.

A few brands of paintballs that are made for cold weather playing. They are designed for better performance during the winter months.

Occasionally, paintballs will break inside the barrel of your gun. If this is happening on a regular basis, there may be a problem. It could be the gun. You may have your velocity set to high. The ideal setting for your guns velocity is about 280. You may also bust balls in the barrel if you do not keep it clean. Having too much oil or not enough oil in the barrel can also cause the paintballs to break. Often, too much air pressure, or uneven air pressure, can cause the paintballs to break.

If the problem is not the gun, it is the paintballs. The most common problem will be the size of the paintballs you are using. Try using a smaller size. Dirty paintballs can also cause them to break. If your paintball hits the ground, do not use it in your gun. Take the loss.

Cheaper paint breaks more often than quality paint. Old paint breaks more often than new paint. Extreme temperatures also have an effect on your paint. Unless your paint is especially made for cold temperatures, avoid using it or storing it in such conditions. High humidity can also cause problems, by weakening and warping the paintballs. You should throw out paintballs that you have had for three or more months. Paint may also break if you are shooting the gun faster than what your hopper can manage. This is called over shooting the feed.

When storing your paintballs, keep this in mind. Higher quality paintballs last longer than low quality when kept in storage. You will need to store your paintballs in a dry area where the temperature does not vary too much. Store paintballs in a sealed container or bag to keep dust and dirt out.

It is a good idea to purchase low quantities of different quality/brand/priced paintballs and try them out to see which one works best for you and your paintball gun.

3 Paintball Skills You Must Digest So You Can Win The Game

Paintball has been called the fourth major unconventional sport in the United States of America. In fact, the latest study discovered that there are about 12 million paintballers around the world with 104 countries participating in a variety of paintball tournaments. This shows that plenty of people are excited to play this exciting sport.

Even so, paintball is not as simple as some people may think. Paintball players agree that they have experienced many trials, hardships, failures, and defeat before they were able to seize the sport of paintball.

Experts insist that playing paintball, just like the other types of sport, requires some skills so you can Walk away victorious. These skills are the underlying tools that every paintball player must develop. Once they have acquired these skills, winning the game is pretty simple.

Here is the list:

1. Basic stance

The problem with the majority of paintball players is that they often tend to face the bunker when they stand next to it. This is such a hard way to stand because it will give the player inadequate balance and time-consuming response.

The best way is to position yourself is behind the bunker with the foot that is opposite with the paintball marker in front. For example, if a paintballer holds the gun with the right hand, the left foot should be in
lead.

2. Trick shot

It is imperative for every paintball player to master the psychological aspect of the sport of paintball. So what this means is that the paintball player must take in how to think and act appropriately according to the imaginable achievements of the other paintballers.

Therefor, shoot off some "trick shots" in an area where the enemy player is probably hiding out. This does not mean that you should fire off a ton of shots.. The focus of this skill is to create a scheme that will urge the paintball player to shoot back in return if ever they are really in that confine.

3. Run, Aim and Fire

Like any person in a battle, it is best to get up on this type of skill in order to achieve the best effect and win. The drawback with most players is that they are constantly hiding out thinking that if they remain invisible they will win. What I am saying is that a paintball player can never become victorious if he does not try to attack his opponents.

Mastering this skill will recognizably give every player a vantage over your fellow paintballers. In every crusade, there is an equal skill to master. Mastery of these skills will assure that the paintball player can dominate the game.

Get The Right Paintball Gear To Win

Paintball is a sport that's taken the country by storm, with over a million players participating in the exciting, action packed game of player elimination. If you or anyone you know wants to play the game, there are several things to consider, and that includes the issue of paintball gear. While the main component of the game is a paintball 'gun' or 'marker', paintball gear may also include headgear, special clothing and accessories for both participant and their equipment.

Paintball gear will most likely be determined by player skill. Beginners often make due with basic rented equipment and old clothes and a pair of goggles. For those who really get into the game, paintball gear and equipment becomes serious business that involves purchasing equipment and accessories that may cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. In addition to the paintball gear that's considered basic, such as paintball markers and pressure systems for propelling paintballs to their intended targets, paintball gear also includes protective headgear, goggles, gloves, and protective vests and pads. Depending on whether game play is causal or tournament, the amount of protective gear is solely up to the discretion of each individual player. Keep in mind, however, that it's not dangerous to play the sport, and paintballs don't exceed certain speed velocity, that while painful when hit, are nothing to cause alarm. The exception is if a person is hit in the eye or ear with a paintball, which is why protective headgear and goggles are a requirement to play. Paintball gear masks are designed to withstand a direct hit by a paintball that travels over 300 feet per second.

The paintball 'gun' or marker, requires a loader or hopper, in addition to some kind of propellant to work. Most paintball gear guns or markers work on compressed carbon dioxide (C02) or high-pressure air tanks that are worn in a back harness. Several different kinds of paintball gear guns or markers are available depending on skill level. A Rec-Ball player marker like the Tippmann 98 Custom costs around $140 and is good for beginners. For Scenario players, try something like the Tippmann A-5. This model will cost about $200, and for Tournament play, many participants choose the marker that best suits the field position they usually play, which may include, front, mid or rear positioning. Front players like to use a marker that allows for mounting of an air supply bottle that can also serve as a 'gun' stock. Middle field players shoot hundreds of rounds, so a high-pressure air system is best. For those who play rear field positions, paint streamers are popular, so a dye marker is your best bet.

No matter what your skill level or what your field position is, paintball gear is available to suit your needs. Shop around and compare prices and always make sure you know what you need before you start shopping. Good buys can be found, so take your time. Finding the correct paintball gear isn't difficult if you know what you're looking for.

Understand Paintball Fields And Get The Winning Edge

Okay, you have the paint marker, the gear, the protective clothing and the money for a game. But what kind of game of paintball do you want to play? Yes, there are many different kinds of paintball fields, both inside and outside. Most players prefer to play outdoors, with natural landscaping serving as their woods, jungles and forest scenario playing fields.

The type of game that is being played determines some of the more basic variations of the fields. In Capture the Flag, for instance, the field can be open or wooded, but the main object is for one team member to capture the flag of the opposing team. The flag is usually located near the 'home base' of the opposing team or in the middle of playing fields. Once the flag is captured, it must be hung from the flag station of the opposing team.

In Elimination, the fields are typically filled with inflatable barriers and obstacles. This version requires either an individual or an entire team to eliminate all opponents.

Paintball fields can also differ in the version called Woodsball. This version of the game requires varied terrain and cover. Players use natural terrain and fallen logs and trees as cover while they practice stealth and strategy in an effort to find and eliminate all opposing players in the game.

The name obviously implies that this exciting version of paintball be experienced in heavy woods with adequate cover for players. This version of the game requires close-quarter play and distances, as visibility is limited and cover provides ample hiding opportunities for opponents.

Woodsball paintball fields are generally open year round, though cold weather will prevent some players from using their CO2 tanks due to freezing and ineffective power.

Some fields have been known to be located on National Forest land, but the forest service requests that players avoid campgrounds, historic ruins and trails accessed by visitors. And of course, please notify the local ranger to verify rules regarding play on National Forest land.

For versions of the game that incorporate scenario playing, a wide variety of fields are used. Some are flat and rolling, some are in the desert, some located in hilly, wooded terrain. These paintball games can last days. A recent paintball scenario game in Pennsylvania was comprised of over four thousand players!

Speedball is another version of paintball that is generally played on fields cleared of trees or any objects that can be used for cover. About half the size of a football field, fields used in Speedball are scattered with artificial obstacles on a level ground.

Paintball fields are as varied as the types of paintball games being created every year. Professionally owned fields are well maintained and players follow posted rules for play.

Still, many individuals create their own fields for play, and these can be found anywhere away from roads, streets and houses. Paintball fields offer kids and adults an exciting day of fresh air and good fun. Check to see if there are any around you and give the game a try!

Just Throw The Paintballs - Guns Aren't Allowed

Beginning in the 1980s, the sport of paint ball grew from a limited pastime sport to a worldwide phenomenon. Paint ball enthusiasts formed teams, set up huge leagues, and organized game tournaments. Though paint ball is still a long way from the popularity of other conventional sports like basketball, new paint ball playing fields and organizations are sprouting up every minute. However you don't even need a field to play. All you need is some open area, some paint balls, guns, and some additional gear and you are ready to go.

Paint ball is not a violent sport even though guns and projectiles are used in the game. The main thing that sets paint ball apart from other sports is the equipment involved. You don't find guns and paint projectiles in too many traditional sports.

Paint ball offers different kinds of accessories such as paint ball guns, gun sights and goggles. The "bullets" are actually spherical, marble-sized capsules of paint which are shot at opponents using air-powered paint ball guns.

The cheapest way to get all of the paint ball accessories that you need is to purchase a special gun package, which includes a basic paint ball marker, air tank, and other accessories. If you can't afford that, borrow a friend?s and give the game a try.

If you are just starting out, Tippmanns, Spyders and other entry level guns are great for a beginner. The air tank for these guns will generate enough pressure to allow the gun to operate in a base level game. Keep in mind that the ideal length for barrels on paint ball guns is 8 to 14 inches. And while you should not skimp on quality equipment, paint ball guns can be bought cheaply and still have a variety of cool features.

When you are playing paint ball in the woods it is simulating jungle warfare so you really have to be up on jungle skills. If you are going to really get into the sport of playing paint ball you are going to want to learn some tactics that will help you to survive longer on the field as well as have a better chance of winning more games.

Overall, it is fun to compete with other teams and create strategies for winning the game. You should work out signals with your team, as well as team tactics and strategy ahead of time, and practice often. With time and practice, anyone can play a fun and competitive game of paint ball.

Remember that paint ball is just game and is not a simulation of warfare or anything negative. Games like laser tag also simulated warfare like scenarios but were meant to be played for fun. So go get your paint balls, guns, and a couple of friends and go out and have a great day of paint ball.

Buying Your First Paintball Gun

Buying Your First Paintball Gun

Paintball is a great sport that is still growing in popularity among all demographics across the world. It is a good way to keep in shape, and if we are being honest most people will say that there is nothing quite like being able to go out and play war without the risk of serious injury. Most of us are also pretty intense when it comes to paintball competitions, so if you are one of the people who is thinking about taking up paintball full time you will want to choose your first gun carefully.

Many people get into paintball by accident, going out to a field with a group for a bachelor party, a staff outing, or just at the invitation of a friend. Everyone quickly realizes how addicting the sport can be, and most will be chomping at the bit to get back out there. These first outings can be a great way to get an idea of the type of gun that you want to purchase. Most outfitters will rent out standard, cheap-yet-durable pump model guns. These guns are designed with a pump action which is pulled backwards to drop a ball in front of the bolt and then pushed forward to place the paintball in front of the bolt in firing position. Right off, you will realize that in the excitement of paintball war, pump model guns get jammed up as you forget if you have put a ball in the chamber or not. Players are especially prone to this in high-intensity situations where they are firing for their life (and they usually end up getting shot out sometime during the frenzy).

Pump guns can be great for beginners, but it is likely that on your first few outings you will be impressed by the types of guns other players bring to the field. I remember the second time I went out. We were a team of pump-armed teenagers and the other team had a guy with a semi-automatic. We were mowed down time and time again, because of high firing speed and the lack of confusion on the part of the other gunner. If you are planning on becoming involved in high-intensity games, then a semi might be the best model for you. Just remember that as semi automatics are becoming more prevalent, many field operators are aware of the damage to business; if paintball becomes a sport of professionals only, then the market for beginners will dry up. Many paintball fields cater to amateurs and thus will only allow pumps on their ranges unless they are hosting a special tournament. Pump guns are still a great way to demonstrate mastery in the game as they require real skill to manage.

Your first gun will also be determined by whether or not you plan to join a paintball team. Often, team hobbyists will have several roles for individuals to play, and the type of gun will depend on the role that you are playing. Full automatics are good for holding positions and laying down covering fire, pumps are used by snipers and the real skilled players on the team, and ramping modes shoot huge bursts per second and are a good counter to automatics.

The decision about what type of gun you use will be based on a lot of factors. Many enthusiasts will use several types of gun depending on what type of event they are participating. Your first gun is special, though, as it will determine the direction you will take with your new hobby. Choose wisely, and have fun!
